BRING HIM HOME
One of the most expressive songs from the musical ”Les Miserables”. The ex-convict Jean Valjean stands next to the young student Marius Pontmercy and prays to God to spare him in the impending onslaught. Marius is in love with Jean Valjeans adopted daughter Cosette, who in turn loves him back.
The novel by Victor Hugo which the story of this musical is based on, received only limited success in France when it was published. After translating the entire piece into English and adding a a great deal of new material it was still very poorly recieved in London ad well. But satisfied audiences spread the word and soon the ticket sales went through the roof. The show is now in it’s 25th year in London!
To the conductor
The arrangement is written close to the original key and works very well for a good tenor vocalist. It may also be sung by an alto female singer. It is important to keep the character delicate and begging even when using an instrumental soloist. A Euphonium or Tenor Saxophone will work very well as a soloist in this piece. Be careful to cover all parts in order to achieve proper balanced chords.

BJØRN MORTEN KJÆRNES
Bjørn Morten Kjærnes (b 1952) is one of Norway’s most published wind band composers and arrangers. Starting out as a 7-year-old Euphonium player (and later,trombone) in a local school band, he has learned this instrumentation from the inside and as an arranger, composer and conductor he has been working with wind bands all his life.
