Commissioned to write a piece as a tribute to a horn playing band director friend, the composer decided it would be totally appropriate to weave melodies from Mozart s 3rd horn concerto into the fabric of this mostly original work. This is indeed a celebratory, jubilant overture, with the outer sections being in a jovial 6/8 rhythmic feel, and the slower-tempo 4/4 middle section expressively drawing on Mozart s Concerto Theme. Let your band celebrate and fully experience this musical magic!
